Shaun Simpson did a good performance with a sixth overall in the MXGP class.Scott-qatar-148386scott-qatar-148388First round of the series just one week before Thailand, Qatar opened the longest ever Wold Championship series, as eighteen Grand Prix are on the schedule of teams and riders this season.

Injured last season in Spain, Dylan Ferrandis was back to the GP’s this weekend, as well as former double champion Jeffrey Herlings. They were the main contenders in the MX2 class, and dominate all their rivals. Dylan posted the fastest lap in practice, and then finished the qualifying race and both heats runner up behind the Dutchman. “I was not really expecting such good results, even if I have the speed, as we didn’t do so much testing before this GP. Last week I raced an international in France and struggled with the bike, but everyone in the team spent many hours on the bike before coming here and it was great for everyone to get this podium ! We worked on the settings of the bike through the weekend and we saw the results. The track was dangerous on some sections and I had armpump in the first race and finished second. In the second race I got the holeshot but Jeffrey passed me; he took some risks but I didn’t want to make any mistake. I go back home this week to do some more testing with the suspension, and to prepare for the next round in Thailand,” said the young Frenchman.scott-qatar-148387scott-qatar-148393scott-qatar-148392Best privateer last season, Shaun Simpson did an impressive start of season with a couple of wins in International events. He confirmed all his potential in Qatar, scoring two strong results with a fifth and a seventh position in the MXGP class, the main category. Now racing a factory bike in a private team, the Scottish is sixth in the standings. Racing only two weeks after he broke his left arm during an international race, Clement Desalle was rewarded for his courage as he scored a few points in both races.scott-qatar-148390The series will now move to a new location in Thailand, for the second round next weekend.
