The eighteenth and final round of the FIM Motocross World Championship took place at Glen Helen (California) and celebrates a new MX2 World Champion. Slovenian Tim Gajser finally beats Latvian Pauls Jonass, to become the first ever World Champion for this country.

The American teenager, Thomas Covington won his first ever GP win in León (Mexico), home of the second last round of the season. Two weeks after his GP win in Assen, Shaun Simpson claimed another strong result with a second place in the MXGP class.

Traditionally, the home of World Superbike and MotoGP events, the Dutch facility of Assen welcomed the Motocross World Championship this weekend for the first time. On a white sandy track Shaun Simpson grabbed his second GP win of the season, while Belgium Brent Van Doninck celebrated his first ever MX2 podium.

Fifteenth round of the World Championship, the Grand Prix of Lombardia, was the first of the final stages of the series. Riders are now facing the last four rounds (Lombardia, Netherlands, Mexico and USA) over the course of only five weeks! Winner in Lommel earlier this month Shaun Simpson narrowly missed another podium, while Jordi Tixier got injured in a crash.

Back racing after seven weeks off with a knee injury, Clement Desalle made an impressive comeback in Loket (Czech Republic) where he collected another podium finish with a third overall. In the MX2 class, Jordi Tixier also made his come back to the podium with a third position.

Coming back to the Kawasaki Racing Team just a few days before the 12th round of the FIM Motocross World Championship, Steven Frossard put in two strong rides in Kegums (Latvia) to finish sixth overall in the MXGP class.

Jordi Tixier narrowly missed the final podium this weekend in Germany. The reigning World Champion finished the tenth round of the FIM MX2 World Championship in fourth position, just ahead of Julien Lieber who had his best performance since the opening GP of the season in Qatar.
