Chef Jean Sulpice

Growing up in the Savoie region of France, Jean Sulpice has always been at home in the mountains. Hiking, cycling, and skiing shaped his childhood and still inspire the rhythm of his days. Today, he is chef of Auberge du Père Bise, the two-Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant nestled on the shores of Lake Annecy.

Surrounded by dramatic peaks and tranquil water, his passion for the Alpine landscape continues to guide his cuisine. From farm to pantry, forest to stove-side, Jean embraces movement as a meaningful part of his craft.

As the morning sun rises over Annecy, Jean rides his E-Bike through valleys and along lakeside roads — gathering inspiration, visiting local producers, and finding ingredients that will shape the day’s menu.

Drawing inspiration from surrounding nature, Chef Jean immerses himself in deep forests, lush mountainsides, and calm lake paths. It is this that informs his cooking philosophy. The movement is constant. It is a back-and-forth, a dialogue between nature and kitchen. He is an artist, a chef, an advocate and guardian of Annecy's terroir. Jean creates food experiences that are not only delicious but an adventure for the palate – an exploration and celebration of the locale.
