Vanhoenacker wins Zell am See

01 September 2014
Vanhoenacker exited the water in fourth place. A 24:07 swim saw him in reach of the fastest swimmers of the day. On the bike, the flying Belgian brought out his guns and unleashed a race-best 2:11:36 bike split that saw him more than 6 minutes ahead of eventual runner-up Alberto Casadei of Italy. In the closing half marathon, Vanhoenacker kept the pace high and managed to keep the fastest runners at bay crossing the finish line less than a minute ahead of second place finisher Casadei. Zell am See will host next year's 70.3 World Championships and it's not unlikely that Vanhoenacker will be back next year to fight for the win.
