Hosking claims fifth stage of Boels Rental Holland Ladies Tour

09 September 2013

Hitec Products UCK’s Chloe Hosking sprinted to victory in today’s fifth stage of the Holland Ladies Tour ahead of Dutch super-sprinter Kirsten Wild (Team Argos Shimano) and American Shelly Olds (Tibco to the Top).

After a fast and aggressive 120 kilometres of racing between Zaltbommel and Veen in the Netherlands Chloe showed she is capable of beating the best with a powerful sprint to claim her first European win of the season.

“It’s been a long time between wins for me and I’m really so happy to get the win today,” an ecstatic Chloe said after the race. “I’ve had a lot of podiums but winning is really just a different feeling, “The girls all rode really well today and it feels so good to pull off the win for them,” she added.

While the race was single file for much of the 120 kilometres as teams tried to split the peloton it was ‘grupo compacto’ with just under five kilometres to race.

“I had Emilie Moberg with me in the finish and she did a great job keeping me protected and out of the wind. I was able to jump from Wild’s wheel with about 150 metres to go and I just put my head down and hoped for the best,

“It was really the most amazing feeling crossing the line knowing I’d won after such great teamwork,” Chloe said.

Hitec Products team manager Karl Lima said it was the teams last chance to get something out of the bunch sprints in the Ladies Tour ahead of tomorrow’s final 105 kilometre stage in the Valkenburg region of the Netherlands, famous for it’s ‘Dutch-mountains’.

“In the past two days our two sprinters Hosking and Moberg have shown they can beat anybody in a bunch sprint, alternating to lead out for each other. I’m very happy,” Lima said.

The six stage tour wraps up tomorrow with the infamous last stage raced around Valkenburg, an area known for it’s short, sharp and unforgiving climbs.
