Luke McKenzie Gears up for IM Melbourne

23 March 2012
As a new season starts, Luke is prepared for his first big race of 2012 with excitement for a challenging course in his home country as well as his new gear. "I've had a chance to go over the IM Melbourne bike course and it definitely suits my strengths." he explains. "It's open to the wind and slightly undulating. With the unpredictable Melbourne weather it could be a very tough day out there if the wind is roaring. My preparation for this IM has been almost flawless and I've arrived here in the best shape I could hope for. It's definitely the most competitive IM event ever assembled outside of the Hawaii IM World Championships and I can't wait to take on the best. Having a major IM event on Australian shores is definitely exciting for me and to race in one of the great sporting cities of the world is a huge positive for Ironman racing."

Luke will be riding his proven bike of choice, the SCOTT Plasma 3 Premium. "My Scott Plasma Premium is a dream piece of equipment and matched with SRAM, Zipp and 3T wheels and components I am confident my machine is one of the fastest on the course" he says.

McKenzie will also be debuting his brand new cutom painted SCOTT Split TT helmet. The Split was created by SCOTT engineers specifically for riders like Luke who demand a helmet with the lowest drag coefficient possible, an advanced optical solution, a fully integrated visor, a dynamic ventilation system, and of course an adjustable, comfortable fit. "I'm excited to debut the new Scott Split TT helmet this Sunday at Ironman Melbourne" he explains happily. "It's by far the best TT helmet I have used with great ventilation and an extremely aerodynamic design. I've had the helmet custom painted by a local Noosa artist Runamuk Visuals and it will definitely turn some heads out on the race course!"
