Successful Weekend at Fort William For Gstaad-SCOTT

10 June 2013

It would prove to be a successful weekend for Gstaad-SCOTT at Fort William for the first stop of the 2013 UCI Downhill World Cup with Noel Niederberger taking the win in the Junior Division.

A few weeks ago, Noel won the BDS race in Fort William, and everybody was curious to see if he could do it again when competing against the world’s best riders. Noel finished second during seeding on Saturday, fully cognisant of the fact that he had some extra kick left in his legs for the big final. With some very smart riding on Sunday, he won the Junior's WC Category with 3.5 seconds to spare- well done, Noel!

Floriane Pugin qualified in fourth on Saturday, but body checked a tree in the final run on Sunday, which threw her back to 6th place. Emile Siegenthaler would finish in 7th place- rounding out two solid top ten finishes for the girls.

Patrick Thome and Brendan Fairclough had to battle it out in an incredibly tight race. Brendan was slowed down by a mechanical problem, but fought through to a 24th place finish. Patrick had a decent run and is working his way up to where he belongs. Finishing 27th, there are promising signs for the French youngster.

Next stop- Val di Sole, Italy.
