The 2012 defending series champion Blake Baggett has had an up and down 2013 outdoor season. After suffering a wrist injury during the supercross season, Baggett set his sights on the outdoors with hopes of defending his 2012 championship. It took Blake a few races to get back up to speed but as the season progressed, so did his results. In California, Blake had every intention of winning the final round. Unfortunately a mechanical issue would prevent him from finishing the first moto and he was listed in 33rd. With nothing to lose, Baggett put the hammer down in the second moto and quickly put himself into the lead. Baggett would go on to win the moto but an unfortunate penalty while jumping on a red cross flag penalized him to second place. Even with 33-2 moto scores, Baggett still earned 9th overall on the day and finished the season 4th in the 250MX point standings.
