MOTOCROSS GP OF GREAT BRITAIN 2013
Third GP win in a row for Clement Desalle
After Czech Republic and Belgium, Clement Desalle won again in Great Britain, where he claimed a third GP win in a row during the penultimate round of the World Championship. In the MX2 class Jordi Tixier secured his final second position in the standings, despite a heavy crash in the first race.
Once more the GP was an affair between Clement and Antonio Cairoli, and the two leaders of the series did some great show in the opening moto; Clement was leading the first part of the race, but after fifteen minutes Cairoli joined him and overtook him. Winning the race and securing its seventh World title, Cairoli was again racing with Clement in the second heat but several mistakes pushed the Italian to retire, while Clement triumphs for the fourth time this season. "I'm really happy with my fourth win of the year. After the first moto I didn't have a good feeling and was too tense on the bike. I had a good start in the second and Antonio made a mistake when he was leading and that made my job a bit easier. I enjoyed the track more today because the rain slowed it down. There were some crazy jumps but there were more lines and possibilities. I'm really happy to win in England and I think it has been three years without even a podium here; it's good!" said a delighted Clement who has secured his second position in the standings.
Winner of the MX2 qualifying race on Saturday, Jordi Tixier had high expectations for Sunday, but a heavy crash in the first heat forced him to retire. With a sore back and a painful wrist, Jordi started the second heat and did a great race with a final fifth position. “I didn’t know if I would be able to finish the race, but I wanted to try even if my body was painful. Don’t ask me how I posted the fastest lap time in the last circulation; I was the first to be surprised as I couldn’t jump normally. The goal was to secure my second place in the standings and I got it, now I’ve two weeks to recover before the final GP in the Netherlands" said the KTM rider.
