First podium this season for Clement Desalle

Clement Desalle (Suzuki Rockstar) got his first podium of the season, scoring a second position in the MXGP of Thailand behind reigning champion Antonio Cairoli. In the MX2 class Dylan Ferrandis (Kawasaki CLS) took fourth, securing the second position in the standings.

Feeling better with this track compared to a week ago in Qatar, Clement Desalle was the main rival of Cairoli in Thailand. Runner up in the first race, the Belgian was leading the second heat for a large portion of the race, but was forced to give up his position in the second part due to some technical troubles. “It was a really good race and nice to come back after not having such a good feeling in Qatar, I enjoyed riding here. In the second moto I had some really good lines and was feeling confident. It was not easy in the hot weather and Cairoli passed me because of a problem; a similar thing to what many others were having. It was scary to do some of the jumps and it was strange because I didn't have the problem in the first moto and was really happy with my bike. I thought it was even hotter then, so I don't really understand » explained Desalle after the race. Tommy Searle was unfortunate to crash heavily during the first race; the British rider broke his wrist and will undergo surgery on Monday.

In the MX2 class Jeffrey Herlings won his second GP in a row, beating fellow countrymen Glenn Coldenhoff and British Max Anstie. Dylan Ferrandis confirmed his strong results from Qatar with a fourth place, maintaining his second position in the standings. “It was a tough weekend for us. It was difficult to breathe on the track but everyone had the same problems. In the first race I had a good start, but later I made a few mistakes to lose two places. My second start was not as good; I started fifth but had caught back up to Coldenhoff when I had problems with the engine. I just missed a podium result, but I’m happy to fly back to Europe second in the championship after this GP, which is probably the most difficult of the series,” said Dylan. Overall all the SCOTT riders had a strong performance as Arnaud Tonus, Jordi Tixier and Alessandro Lupino all finished in the top eight of the GP.

Three weeks until the next event in Brazil.
