MX heads to TN and GNCC goes to Ohio

Round three of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series returned to the South for the first time since the late 90's last weekend.  The Tennessee National was held at the beautiful Muddy Creek Raceway, just outside Bristol, TN.  Crowds lined the grassy hills surrounding the track and enjoyed an impressive day of racing as two new winners would run away with the overall scores in both classes.

250 MX Class

SCOTT goggle athlete and defending 250 motocross champion Blake Baggett continues to get stronger every week and this past weekend he made a statement to the competition.  He had consistent 3-3 finishes in both motos and took 4th overall for the day.  In the first moto, Blake got out to a great start and had a great battle with Jason Anderson before overtaking him and securing 3rd place in the moto.  In moto two Baggett had his work cut out for him after a 10th place start.  He picked off the guys in front of him and held off a last lap charge by 4th place rider Ken Roczen to add another podium finish to his day.  He maintains 4th in the points chase and is just 28 points out of the lead.

SCOTT goggle athlete and Team Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider Martin Davalos had a roller coaster weekend in Tennessee.  Bad luck in moto one saw Davalos battling from the back and was only able to cross the finish line in 13th place.  An improved start in moto two allowed Davalos to race inside the top ten and brought home an 8th place finish.  His combined moto score was good enough for 11th overall.

SCOTT goggle athlete Justin Hill had another consistent weekend as he continues a solid rookie campaign in 250 motocross.  With 16-14 moto finishes, he left Tennessee with a 14th for the event and has moved to 14th in the point standings.

SCOTT goggle athlete Darryn Durham is still finding his speed as the series closed on round three.  He finished 17th overall with moto scores of 14-17.  He is currently in 16th in points.

SCOTT goggle athlete and rookie privateer Dillan Epstein stayed inside the top 20 again this past weekened.  Bad luck struck in the second moto following a 17th place first moto finish.  Unfortunately, he wasn't able to complete the second moto and had to settle with a 19th overall finish for the day.

450 MX Class

Belgian rider Clement Desalle further established himself as one of the best riders in the world with two more top ten finishes in the US National series.   Clement raced the second of two races planned in the USA while the European GP series enjoyed a break in its race schedule.  Clement got a great start in the first moto and hovered around the top 5 all moto, eventually crossing the finish line in 5th.  The second moto didn't go as planned as Clement washed out just after the start and had to work his way through the pack.

Desalle charged all the way back to 9th by the end of the moto and earned 6th overall with 5-9 scores.  After only racing 2 races, Desalle is listed 8th in the 450MX point standings.  Desalle now sets his sights back across the pond as he and his teammate will head back to Europe to compete in the remaining GP rounds.

SCOTT goggle athlete Andrew Short bounced back this weekend, finishing 8th overall with 12-10 moto scores.  Shorty sits 9th overall in the 450MX point standings.

SCOTT goggle athlete Trey Canard was sent to the back of the pack after suffering a gnarly crash in the first moto.  Trey remounted and rode back to 29th place by the end of the moto.  The second moto went much better for the resilient rider, as Trey sliced through the pack and into 3rd place by the end, holding off series points leader Ryan Villopoto in the process.  Trey was awarded 9th overall for his efforts and now sits 5th in the 450MX point standings.

Phil Nicoletti rode to his best moto finish of the year in his first moto, placing 8th.  Unfortuantely, in the second moto, Nicoletti was a victim of a huge first turn pileup that claimed multiple riders.  Phil wasn't able to finish the race and was credited with 33rd.  With 8-33 moto scores, Nicoletti earned 14th overall for the day and now sits 14th in points.

Another victim of the first turn pileup in the second moto, SCOTT goggle athlete Tyla Rattray wasn't able to back up his first moto finish of 11th.  Tyla's 11-38 moto scores earned him 17th overall for the day and he now sits 7th in points.

The next round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series heads to Mount Morris, PA, on June 8.

Teammates Kailub Russell and Charlie Mullins pulled off yet another 1-2 podium finish last weekend at the Penton GNCC.

SCOTT goggle athlete Kailub Russell dominated the 7th round of the 2013 GNCC series in Millfield, OH.  The factory KTM rider worked his way into the lead by lap 4 and never looked back en route to the class and overall win.  Russell inched a little closer to his teammate in the point standings and maintains 2nd.

Charlie Mullins took a solid 2nd overall behind his teammate but still maintains a 14 point lead in the standings.

Chris Borich returned to his winning ways last weekend at the Penton GNCC, taking the overall win with a last lap pass for the lead.

Adam McGill lead the most laps on the day and looked to have the win in the bag had it not been for Borich pulling one of his patented last lap passes to take the win.  His second place finish matches his season's best and moves him into 4th in the point standings.

Chris Bithell remains consistent by scoring another 3rd place podium finish.  Bithell is 3rd in the point standings.

The next round of GNCC kicks off June 15 in Masontown, West Virginia.
