MOTOCROSS MXGP OF GERMANY 2014
GP11 MOTOCROSS: GERMANY
Fourth MXGP win for Clement Desalle
Clement Desalle won in Teutschenthal (Germany), his fourth MXGP win of the season. This victory positions him only twenty-five points behind Cairoli in the overall standings. In the MX2 class current runner up Arnaud Tonus got injured during the practice session.
Clement Desalle
For Desalle this GP felt like revenge. After his disappointing GP of Italy, where he lost a couple of points in a first race crash, the Suzuki rider overcame bad memories of a shoulder injury on this track nine month ago during the Motocross of Nations. Winning was pretty emotional for the Belgian rider. “I didn't ride this week after my crash in Italy and my wrist was painful up until Wednesday, but it started to warm-up after the first sessions. My starts were good and this was really important. Max was really strong in the first moto and made a small gap. I closed it, but could not find any places to pass. Anyway, second was a good result and I knew I had to be totally-focused on the start for the second one to try and win the GP. To be first from the beginning meant I could concentrate on my riding and didn't have a look around until the last 10-minutes when I could relax a little bit. It is cool to win in Germany; especially after such a good race. The ground is really special here, sometimes there is grip and sometimes not. You have to be consistent every weekend and now the gap in the championship is 25 points – just one moto – and we have plenty of motos left,” said Clement. Third in the opening race, Steven Frossard was unable to finish the second one.
Jordi Tixier
In the MX2 class, Arnaud Tonus missed the GP as the Swiss rider crashed during the first practice session and dislocated his left shoulder. Jordi Tixier third of the GP was the best SCOTT representative. “I struggled a lot on the track for the first few laps of the first moto and then I had a bad start in the second moto. I was around tenth but I pushed a lot and managed to come back to third. I’ve been working hard the last few weeks and today I was happy with my feeling on the bike and with my riding,” said Jordi who is currently third in the standings. Dylan Ferrandis third of the opening race had a bad start in the second heat, and scored a sixth overall. The series will continue in Uddevalla (Sweden) in two weeks time.
