MOTOCROSS GP OF SPAIN 2014
GP7 MOTOCROSS: SPAIN
A perfect GP for Clement Desalle
Winner of the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend in Talavera de la Reina, Belgian’s Clement Desalle claimed his second MXGP win. Matching the results in Italy Desalle was alongside two fellow countrymen on a 100% Belgian podium. In the MX2 class Jeffrey Herlings was successful once again, standing in first on the podium with Dylan Ferrandis and Arnaud Tonus.

Desalle was not at his best last weekend in the Netherlands, or on Saturday as he had some stomach problems. Pulling off two tremendous starts on Sunday he was pretty difficult to pass on the Spanish track of Talavera. It’s the first time this season that the Suzuki rider won two heats over the weekend, as he approaches Cairoli in the series. “My feeling on the bike was really good, and it was so nice to get two moto wins like I did. It is good for my confidence and the championship. I was really happy about my riding and I enjoyed myself out there. The track was technical and when it is like this – you need to find a good line to go fast – I like it a lot. I have to say I’m pleased to win in Spain because I appreciate this country. The start was so important and I managed to have two really good ones. I want to say thanks to the team because we have worked a lot so I can feel good on the bike and it is going better and better” said Clement. Frenchman, Steven Frossard finished third and fifth in the races, just missing the podium by two points. This makes Spain his best result since Qatar, only a few weeks after a heavy crash in Italy.

Jeffrey Herlings won his fourth consecutive Grand Prix in Talavera de la Reina, where the Kawasaki riders got a double podium. It was the second time this season than Dylan Ferrandis enjoyed this moment, having missed a couple of podiums in the previous rounds. “Since Qatar I was unlucky to just miss the podium a couple of times so it’s good for my confidence to be back on the rostrum! In the first race I had a good start and we all keep our position so I finished third. The second start was not as good as I was eighth or ninth, and it was very difficult to pass here. I was lucky as some rivals crashed, and with another third position I got second position overall, so that’s great” explained Dylan who shared the podium with team mate Arnaud Tonus.
