Mountaineer Run GNCC

The 8th round of the Amsoil Grand National Cross Country Series (GNCC) took place in Masontown, WV last weekend.  SCOTT athlete Kailub Russell won his second straight XC1 race while teammate Charlie Mullins rounded out the podium in 3rd.

Kailub Russell inched closer to his teammate in the points battle and now sits 5 points back with 200 points.  The battle for the championship is heating up as the series begins to wind down with 5 rounds to go.

Charlie Mullins took a close 3rd in West Virginia and was able to maintain his points lead by 5 with 205 points.

In the XC2 class, SCOTT goggle athlete Layne Michael earned an exciting podium spot with a 3rd place finish.

SCOTT goggle athletes Adam McGill (1st), Chris Borich (2nd), and Chris Bithell (3rd) swept the ATV XC1 podium at the Mountaineer Run GNCC.

Adam McGill, hailing from West Virginia, took a win away from series points leader Chris Borich in an exciting battle that came down to the last few turns.  McGill took the holeshot and proceeded to check out until the final laps when Bithell and Borich closed the gap.  Adam was able to hold off the duo and went on to take the top step on the podium.

Chris Borich put on an exciting charge in the last laps of the race and did everything he could to make the last lap pass.  Unfortunately it wasn't to be, and Borich had to settle for second.  Borich still leads the points chase by 64 points over McGill.

Chris Bithell finished only seconds behind Borich to take 3rd place/  Bithell maintains 3rd overall in the point standings.  The next GNCC is set for June 29-30th in Snowshoe, West Virginia.
