Thunder Valley Weekend Moto Results

Last weekend the second stop of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series landed at the beautiful Thunder Valley MX Park, located just outside Lakewood, Colorado.  The track sits at over 5,000 feet above sea level, which had mechanics scrambling to squeeze every available horsepower out of their riders' bikes.

450MX Class

Trey Canard led the way for SCOTT athletes in Colorado.  The Oklahoma native came out swinging with a solid 4th place finish in the first moto.  In the second moto, Canard had another strong ride and came away with a 5th.  With a combined moto score of 4-5, Trey ended up 5th overall and now sits 4th in the point standings.

Hailing from Belgium, SCOTT goggle athlete and European GP regular Clement Desalle took advantage of a two week break in the GP schedule and decided to come to the USA to give the Nationals a run.  Desalle surprised many early on by setting the second fastest lap time in qualifying practice.  In the first moto, Desalle got a great start and quickly moved his way into the top 5, finishing in 5th.  In the second moto, Desalle rode hard and climbed through the field after getting a mid-pack start.  He worked his way up to 7th buy the checkered flag.  Desalle took 6th overall with a combined moto score of 5-7.  Clement will compete in the next National in Bristol, TN next weekend before heading home to Europe.

SCOTT goggle athlete Tyla Rattray had a great day in Colorado and finished in the top ten for the second week in a row.  The South African finished 7th in the first moto and 10th in the second, which was good enough for 8th overall.  Tyla now sits 7th overall in the point standings after 2 rounds.

Looking to better his performance from last week, SCOTT goggle athlete Dean Wilson set his sights on a top ten finish.  With 11-9 moto scores, Wilson did just that and earned 10th overall for his efforts.  Deano now sits 11th in the point standings.

Phil Nicoletti had a strong first moto, finishing just outside the top ten in 12th. In the second moto Phil had to battle from the back and would make it all the way up to 27th.  12-27 moto scores still earned Nicoletti 17th overall for the day and he sits 13th in the point standings.

Colorado native Andrew Short was excited to head to his hometown state for last weekend's race at Thundar Valley.  Unfortunately, Short was a victim of a big crash in the first moto and sustained a pulled groin muscle.  Despite crashing, Short worked his way through traffic in both motos and came away with 18-16 moto scores for 18th overall for the day.  Short's results don't indicate how well he actually rode in Colorado.  Andrew sits 10th in the point standings.

250MX Class

Defending 250MX champion and SCOTT goggle athlete Blake Baggett rode well in Colorado.  Baggett had not been able to ride much last week due to a sore wrist from a previous injury.  Still recovering, Baggett had to work his way through the field after getting a mid-pack start.  Blake worked his way to a respectable 9th in moto 1.  In moto 2, Baggett got a better start but still had to work through the field.  He would find himself in 5th by the checkered flag.  9-5 moto scores earned Blake 5th overall for the day.  He now sits 4th in the point standings.

After a forgettable weekend at Hangtown, SCOTT athlete Martin Davalos was looking for a better result in Colorado.  Martin crossed the finish line in 7th in moto 1 and 10th in moto 2 for 7th overall for the day.  With a solid result in CO, Davalos finds himself 13th in the 250MX point standings.

Monster Energy Pro Circuit rookie Justin Hill continues to do well, as he finished just outside the top ten.  Hill finished 11th and 13th in the two motos and his scores gave the speedy youngster 12th overall for the day and put him in 10th overall.

Dillan Epstein is making the most of his rookie season by finished in the top 15 for the second weekend in a row.  The top placing privateer earned his 15th overall this week with 15-15 moto scores.  Epstein sits 17th in points heading to the next round, which will be held in Bristol, TN on June 1.
