SCOTT Athletes at the Atlanta Supercross

25 February 2013

The 8th round of the Monster Energy/AMA Supercross was held in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, GA last weekend.  SCOTT athletes were out in full force and battled hard against the field to come away with solid finishes and most importantly, championship points.

250 SX East Coast Class

Dean Wilson

After taking the win last week in Texas, SCOTT athlete Dean Wilson made a statement that he was focused on winning the East Coast championship.  Wilson didn't miss a step in Atlanta as he took the holeshot and went on for the heat race win.  In the 250SX main event, Wilson got a great jump off the gate and found himself in 2nd early on.  Wilson rode hard and did his best to catch the leader, but by the checkered flag, he would have to settle for 2nd place.  Dean maintains the point lead heading into the 3rd round of the East Coast championship series.

Justin Hill

Rookie Justin Hill of Monster Energy Pro Circuit Racing had another solid weekend in Georgia.  Hill transferred to the main event with a 4th place finish in his heat race.  Hill then went on to finish 6th in the 250SX main event.  Justin sits 6th in the points chase.

450SX Class

Trey Canard

SCOTT goggle athlete Trey Canard had a rough night in Georgia.  It all began in the second 450SX heat race when Trey came together with teammate Justin Barcia, breaking multiple spokes out of his front wheel and preventing him from finishing the race.  Trey was forced to the LCQ where he got into the lead mid-race and checked out for the win.  In the main event, Canard got a mid-pack start and found himself battling for every position in the stacked 450 field.  Trey finished a respectable 5th place in the main event and maintains 4th in the point standings.

Andrew Short

SCOTT athlete Andrew Short had a busy week leading up to Atlanta.  After having his team fold in the early rounds, Short was forced to ride a stock bike and did everything he could to make it to the races.  Luckily for Short, BTO Sports stepped up and signed him for the remainder of the season.  Short looked good early on and took home 2nd place in the first 450SX heat race.  Unfortunately, in the main event Short got a slow jump off the gate and found himself battling mid pack.  Short would only be able to earn a 14th place finish but still finds himself 7th in the point standings.

Next weekend the Supercross tour heads to St. Louis, MO.  We'll see you there!
