Double Podiums for SCOTT Riders at GP of Bulgaria

25 April 2012

Double podiums for SCOTT riders

The fast and famous Bulgarian track of Sevlievo welcomed the second round of the FIM Motocross World Championship, and offers a lot of action in both classes. It was a good event for the SCOTT riders, as Tommy Searle won the MX2 class while Christophe Pourcel got his first MX1 podium.

After his podium in Holland, Tommy Searle confirmed on a hard track that he will be Jeffrey Herlings' main rival this season. He got twice the holeshot and was leading each moto, but missed a double win.

"The bike is so powerful this season that I got two holeshot, life is so different when you start in front. I had no more front brakes in the first heat after a few laps, and couldn't keep Jeffrey and my teammate Joel Roelants behind me. Second moto was better, it's great to win a GP." Tommy was pleased to have his teammate with him on the podium. Joel Roelants scored his second consecutive podium after winning his first ever GP heat and placing fourth in the second moto.

Christophe Pourcel was back at his best level in Bulgaria, after a disappointing Dutch GP two weeks ago. The Frenchman got two holeshot and fought twice with Gautier Paulin, who shares the honors with him.

"After Valkenswaard we worked hard with the team, and we proved today what we can do. I was surprised when Paulin passed me at the beginning of the second race, we had the same speed but with his win in race two he won the GP, even if we scored the same points. I'm proud of this result, we built a new team this winter and we are already winning races," revealed Christophe, who was pleased to see his brother Sebastien back to his best level. Steven Frossard was not racing the GP due to a knee injury during the qualifying race; he will have surgery this Monday in Belgium and will probably miss the Italian GP next weekend.
