MOTOCROSS MXGP OF ARGENTINA 2015

30 March 2015

GP3: Argentina

First ever GP win for Dylan Ferrandis

Dylan Ferrandis (250 Kawasaki) will forever remember his first trip to Argentina, where the FIM Motocross World Championship was back after a long break. Winner of his first ever Grand Prix, the young Frenchman is tied in the standings with Herlings after three GPs. In the MXGP class Clement Desalle (450 Suzuki) scored his third consecutive podium and increases his lead in the series.

Traveling to Argentina confident after two weeks of improving his physical condition and doing more testing on his factory Kawasaki, Dylan Ferrandis confirmed, on the beautiful track in Patagonia, that he will be one of the main opponents of Jeffrey Herlings this season. Winner of the first race and runner up in the second one, Ferrandis won the GP and took advantage of Herling’s DNF in the opening race to join him in the standings. “Before coming here in Argentina we did a lot of testing on the suspension, and on Saturday we continued working on the bike. I was not worried with my fifth position in qualification; I knew that Sunday would be different. I got a great start in the first race and took the lead in the opening lap, then Jonass passed me but I knew that I was faster and passed him back to win pretty easily. My second start was not as good but I was soon third behind Jonass and Herlings until I crashed and lost a couple of positions; I was sixth but felt comfortable on the bike and recovered to second place in the moto to secure my first overall Grand Prix overall victory. The track was pretty nice; I enjoyed racing here and I want to thank all the team members who worked hard to get these results,” said the young Frenchman.

In the MXGP class Clement Desalle secured another second position in the Grand Prix – his third consecutive – consolidating his leadership. Winner of the first race and runner up in the next one, he scored the same number of points than Max Nagl, but the German with a better second race won the Grand Prix. “I’m happy because it is another good and strong result…but a bit disappointed because - for sure - I wanted to win the GP. My weekend was OK. Yesterday I had good speed but I found the track a bit tricky. Sometimes the bike would react differently to what you expected but everybody had to deal with the same. I had some good starts today and I made every lap of the first moto in first place. I was concentrating a lot and was really happy. It was a little bit sandy here but also not so much, but I felt good on a track like this. Max was fast in the second moto and I made a few mistakes. I concentrated again and could start to catch Antonio in the last laps. Villopoto was also not far away. I was also blocked by a backmarker, and this tends to happen a lot at the overseas races, but I could finish the moto well,” explained the leader of the MXGP series after the race.
