MOTOCROSS MXGP OF SWEDEN 2015

06 July 2015

GP11: Sweden

Jordi Tixier was expecting to be back on the podium in Sweden, but the Frenchman had a technical issue in race one and was forced to quit. This destroyed his chances and even with a third in the second heat, he finished in a disappointing ninth. Most of the top riders of the class struggled in one race (Tixier, Herlings, Anstie, Jonass, Lieber, to name a few), opening the door to some great results in this round. With sixth and eleven place finishes, Brent Van Doninck on his Kemea Yamaha, ended up sixth overall, three ranks ahead of Tixier. Petar Petrov was not in Sweden as the new recruit of team KRT MX2 broke a collarbone practicing, and Thomas Covington crashed in both motos to score a sixteenth overall. World championship leader Jeffrey Herlings got injured in a crash at the start of the second heat, resulting in Tim Gajser winning the MX2 GP.

In the MXGP class Frenchman Romain Febvre got its fourth consecutive win, and increase his lead in the standings. Shaun Simpson got his best result of the season with a third place in the first heat, but a bad start resulted in an eleventh position in race two, costing him a podium result. Belgian Clement Desalle was not racing in Sweden, while he continues to recovering from his knee injury.

Next Grand Prix will take place in Kegums (Latvia) on July 11-12
