MOTOCROSS MXGP OF SWITZERLAND 2016

08 August 2016

GP15: SWITZERLAND (Frauenfeld) - Double win for American Darian Sanayei

Switzerland was finally back at the calendar of the FIM Motocross World Championship this weekend in Frauenfeld; it was a great event, which offered some great racing in both classes on a brand new track.

Once more it’s in the European classes that the Scott riders achieved their best results, with a strong double win for young American Darian Sanayei who dominates the EMX250 while Finn Kim Savaste finished runner up in the European 125 final round of the series.ch-scott-174547ch-scott-174551

Coming in Europe to start his pro career, Darian Sanayei reached his goal as he finished the series runner up behind other Scott Athlete Thomas Kjer Olsen. “It was a pretty good weekend for me, even I was afraid to have a muddy race when it rained on Thursday and Friday night. The track was really muddy for the qualifying practice early on Saturday, but I was able to post the fastest lap time. I got the holeshot in the first moto and won the race by twenty three seconds; in the second one I missed the holeshot but moved to second straight away and then took the lead after two laps to gain another moto win. It’s a good way to end the season; my goal this season was to get a top three and I finished the series in second position. Now I will go back to America, and will prepare for the two US GP where I will race for Monster Energy Bud Racing Kawasaki," said the young American who will race the MX2 GP’s next season. Racing his first MX2 GP just one week after being crowned EMX 250 Champion, Thomas Kjer Olsen impressed with a top eight result.ch-scott-174553Fastest rider in the MX2 free practice period, Dylan Ferrandis unfortunately ended his GP season this weekend, as he broke his right arm when another rider hit him on a jump during the timed practice period; the Frenchman underwent surgery in the night. In the MXGP class Italian veteran Antonio Cairoli got his third win of the season, while Jordi Tixier enjoyed his best result of the season with a seventh position. “I’m a little bit frustrated by the final result, as I had a great feeling with this track this weekend and posted some good results in the practice session, but I struggled at the starts and we all know that it’s impossible to get a good result without a good start. I was between tenth and fifteenth each time; we need to work with the team to find solutions as it’s the part of the puzzle that is missing at the moment to get top five results. I had good lap times in the races; I posted the second fastest lap in the first race, and as I have no more pain or troubles with my wrist I remain confident for the rest of the season. It was a great event with many fans, a good promotion for our sport,” he said. Team mate Clement Desalle did a strong opening race with a third position, but crashed twice in race two and missed a podium result.

The series entered a three weeks break, and will be back end of August in Assen (Netherlands)
