Savatgy Wins in Oakland

03 February 2016

The 2016 Monster Energy Supercross Series continued on this past weekend, with round four taking place at O.co Coliseum in Oakland, California. Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider Joey Savatgy, set the tone right away with a convincing heat race win. The momentum carried right into the main event, where Savatgy closely stalked the leaders in a third place position early on. While other riders were having difficulty with the track, Joey remained focused to reach the top step of the podium. Savatgy showed much tenacity when his shifter was bent during an altercation with a tough block midway through the 15 lap race. He was still able to keep the pressure on the leader, and make a pass late in the race to go on to win his first career 250 Supercross main event. Congrats Joey and the entire Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team!

In the 450 class, Team BTOSports.com KTM rider Justin Brayton was able to win his Semi race and finished ninth in the main event. AutoTrader.com Toyota JGR Yamaha rider Weston Peick had another rough main event, going down late and salvaging an eleventh place finish.

Trey Canard Sidelined in Oakland...

SCOTT-backed HRC Honda athlete Trey Canard had to pull out of the race last Saturday with a swollen hand. Trey suffered a hand injury last week in Anaheim when another rider landed on him. In typical Canard fashion, he taped it up and went out racing. The swelling proved too severe though and he could no longer hang on to the bike. Look for Trey to line up this weekend in Glendale, Arizona.
