Joe Gray Wins NACAC Cross Country Championships and First Athlete Ever to Win Both Cross Country and Mountain Championships

25 February 2014

SCOTT athlete Joe Gray took first place at the North America, Central America and Caribbean Cross Country Championships on Saturday February 22, at the Mt Irvine Bay Golf Course in Tobago.

Gray secured the individual gold by completing the course in 24:14, his teammate Gregory Montgomery finished shortly behind him taking the bronze medal. It was an intense race and Gray came out hard. "I have 5 NACAC Mountain Running titles under my belt and even though this was my first cross country team I wanted to come out and debut with a solid performance," said Joe Gray on his blog. Gray did just that taking home the gold and leading the Men's Team USA to the overall gold.

Men's Team USA had a strong race overall with guys finishing 1, 3, 5 and 7th place securing them the team gold medal for the event. Other highlights of the event- the Women's Team USA took gold and the Men's USA Junior team took gold as well by dominating the field.

The highlight for Joe though was being the first ever athlete to win both the NACAC Cross Country and Mountain Championships. SCOTT Sports would like to congratulate Joe Gray on his big achievements and look forward to what he has to bring to the running world for the rest of this upcoming year.
