SCOTT Shoe Demo and Training for Zermatt Marathon

17 June 2012

SCOTT Sports and almost 30 runners are since last Sunday really well prepared for the 11th Zermatt Marathon on July 7. Exactly three weeks before day X, the race organization invited in cooperation with SCOTT all participants for a shoe demo and training on the 2nd part of the official race course.
Zermatt
A few tens of runners from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, leaded by SCOTT athlete and Zermatt 2008 Winner Gerd Frick from South Tyrol, ran from Zermatt to the finish area Riffelberg, 2.582 meters over sea level. As a part of the Italian SCOTT team Gerd is this year focusing on his mountain marathon races in Zermatt and at the Jungfrau in September. Every participant had the opportunity to test the new SCOTT running shoes, and after a short introduction and shoe clinic by SCOTT employees from the Headquarter in Givisiez, the runners have been divided into 3 different groups, according to their performance level and target for the race day.
Scott Team
As anticipated, Gerd took the lead for the first group. Despite a quite fast pace on the way to the Riffelberg, a bunch of runners were able to follow their extraordinary pacemaker. As the former winner of Zermatt Marathon knows the way up to Riffelberg at least as good as a real local, the first group crossed the finishline before lunchtime, and so they were all privileged to enjoy the fabulous landscape to the full around the Riffelberg.
Running Lady
All runners finished their training with a big smile. Some of them brimmed over with enthusiasm for their first run with SCOTT shoes. Afterwards all runners had lunch together at the “Gornergrat Paradise”, and Gerd finally had to refuse scores of offers from the participants for being their pacemaker on the race day.
