Team ATLET achieve fantastic results in Aguilas, Spain

06 September 2012
Three members of SCOTT-sponsored team ATLET competed in European competitions in Aguilas, Spain, last weekend. All three achieved top-ten performances, including a place on the third step of the podium for Adrien Briffod.

Racing in the Junior European Cup, Adrien Briffod was attempting to qualify for the World Junior Triathlon Championships, while Marine Antille and Sylvain Fridelance were members of the Swiss national teams racing in the European Championships “Youth” category.

In the relays, each of the three team members completed, in turn, a 300m swim, 9km bike and 2km run. Sylvain was the first of his team to set off and thanks to a very fast run was able to pass the relay to his next team member in 5th position. His team finally finished ninth.
Marine ran the middle leg for the Swiss women’s team, which finished seventh.

Adrien, who had already enjoyed a brilliant season, needed to finish on the podium of this Junior European Cup to be assured of a ticket for the Worlds in Auckland (NZL) in October. He achieved this in fine style! At the end of a determined race (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run), he sprinted to third place, just three seconds off the winner.
