One of Australia’s most respected domestiques, Brett Lancaster has Commonwealth Games and Olympic gold medals to his credit and has ridden five editions of the Giro d’Italia.

Whilst most of his career has been spent with Italian teams, in 2009 he was part of the fledgling Cervélo TestTeam and in 2012 he’ll line up for WorldTour debutant GreenEDGE and is excited about the prospect. “I’ve been riding for Australian teams since 1997, when I went to my first junior World Championships. Now I get to ride for an Australian pro team all year round. It was an obvious choice.”

He rode with 2010 road world champion and Classics expert Thor Hushovd during the 2011 season and knows what it takes to make a successful team in the European spring.

Having witnessed Cervélo’s successful rise in its short time amongst cycling’s elite Lancaster is well qualified to judge the potential inherent in GreenEDGE’s squad in its infancy.
"Sure we may not have a big guy for the overall win in the grand tours, but this is our first year so let’s not rush things. This group will be successful and we’ll build from there.."
