Meet Simon. The Victorian can proudly point to his name in the books of Australian cycling lore as the first Aussie since to win stages in all three Grand Tours – a feat few expected of the fresh-faced-23-year-old who headed over to Europe in 2003 to pay his dues on the European Continental teams.

Simon got his start on the world stage as a stagiaire with AG2R-Prévoyance in 2004 and stayed with the team for three seasons. His time here laid the groundwork for the successes that followed.
Much success has followed.

Simon enjoyed a breakout season in 2009. He completed the Grand Tour triple with his Giro and Vuelta stage wins. He posted a win at the GP Ouest France. He rode into the top ten at all three Ardennes classics.

Simon joins us from Sky Procycling where he rode well for the British squad. After competing for the Australian national team at Worlds in 2009 and 2010, Simon, now 31, was ready to come to ride with GreenEDGE.

"This might be a new team on paper, but it’s been 20 years in the making by people like Shayne, and I know the amount of prep Shayne does to get things right."
