Based on the Ultra Carbon RC, a shoe developed with our athlete Cody Lind, the Ultra Explore is a seamless combination of performance and our most responsible innovation to-date. This is a shoe designed entirely to help you push further and set PBs on the trails, thanks to the inclusion of the world’s first hybrid composite plate, made of flax, UD carbon and a bio-based resin. Carbitex GearFlex™ Flax Plate
Carbitex GearFlex™ Flax Plate uses carbon fiber and flax fiber. Carbitex has been able to make the most of flax’s inherent mechanical properties, creating composites parts with high stiffness, resistance to breakage, torsion, and compression, making it a perfect material for high-performance footwear applications. The bio-based composites maintain high-performance characteristics required in the performance footwear category, that have previously only been able to be achieved by traditional carbon composites. The plate is dynamically flexible, responding to you by increasing stiffness as you increase speed, and retaining flexibility when walking. By dynamically increasing stiffness as the plate is flexed, it gives you more power and efficiency when you need it, and ease of movement when you don’t. It’s like having a track spike and running shoe in one.
Ultra Traction
Our Ultra Traction outsole is designed specifically ultra races on fast rolling trails. Utilizing a semi radial design to give maximum efficiency in forward motion while maintain multi direction traction elements to keep you feeling confident when the trail starts to twist and turn. Our newest traction solution is best suited to fast, smooth summer trails of any distance at any speed.
Evolved Rocker2
Evolved Rocker2 (ER2) builds on 10 years of continued R&D, creating our most efficient running platform yet. ER2 applies our advanced understanding of biomechanical principles to promote a more dynamic running position, reducing heel strike impacts and increasing running efficiency. Simply put, you can run faster for longer, with less energy. 
Kinetic Light Foam
Kinetic Light Foam is our ever evolving proprietary foaming technology. Enhancing the properties of our existing high-rebound midsoles, this lightweight foam has even more rebound in an even lighter package. Soft, light and responsive, but with high levels of durability. You get more energy back so you can run faster for longer.
