Kabush Captures Canadian Cross Crown

20 novembre 2012

SCOTT - 3Rox Racing’s Geoff Kabush raced his Addict CX to the 2012 Canadian National Cyclocross Championship title over the weekend. The rain soaked course in Surrey, BC placed a premium on bike handling, tactics, and raw power. Kabush, a cagey, jack-of-all-trades bike racer sized up the field during the first couple laps before finding his way to the front.

“I was looking forward to today. I just knew if my legs showed up it was the kind of course where there wasn’t going to be much Mickey Mouse group riding. It was a tough, physical course”, Geoff remarked after his winning ride. “The first couple laps people are kind of going hard anyway, so I kind of sat in…Once I got to the front I just kind of put some pressure, opened up 30-40 meters and decided it was time to push that home.”

“Every lap there there’s two or three sections where you could really lay down the power, so I just made sure I put in some really hard accelerations and felt really comfortable on my SCOTT Addict.” Commenting on his effort he added, “And just riding efficient through all the muddy, tight corners and I was able to see the time gap stretch out, stretch out…I knew I had the buffer to ride it in for the win.”

“The SCOTT-3Rox Team has been an excellent endeavor for SCOTT Sports,” added Adrian Montgomery. “Kabush is such a well rounded cyclist, able to compete on the highest level in Cyclocross and on the Mountain Bike. I couldn’t be more stoked on the weekend performance.”

The win marks another milestone in the 2012 season for Geoff Kabush and SCOTT bikes. With wins at Sea Otter, the Whiskey 50, a personal best eighth place at the Olympics, a stage win at the Trans Provence, and now the Canadian CX National Title, Kabush has raced four different SCOTT bikes to success.
