REMEMBER THIS GUY? NEWS ON HIM AND HIS BIKE

08 November 2011
Everyone remembers this video featuring the biker who got taken out by a buck in Africa. After the video got over 12 million views the rider, named Evan Vand der Spuy, has become somwhat of a one-time youtube sensation. According to the Global Post, van der Spuy who rides on Team Jeep South Africa was taken out by a red hartebeest, a type of antelope that can weigh as much as 330 pounds. If you haven't seen it already, you can watch it here. After this we got in touch with his team manager to find out how him and his SCOTT Scale were doing. After getting hit Evan was visibly shaken and seemed to be groaning with a shattered helmet in his hands but after visiting the hospital he tweeteng "stable with nothing more than a very stiff neck". As for his SCOTT Scale bike, it also made it through with no permanent damage and we can now say that the SCOTT Scale is Buck proof. Below is a photo of Evan and his bike after the incident, thankfully both are unharmed. The SCOTT Sports subsidiary in South Africa awarded Evan with a brand new 2012 SCOTT Spark Pro 29er for his future races. Visit the product page here.
