Design & Innovation Awards 2018: 2 winners for SCOTT!
Once a year, the Design & Innovation Award team meets for 2 weeks of testing and assessing, to eventually define the bike industry’s highest-performing products. In 2018, SCOTT has been honoured with 2 winning bikes: the Foil Premium Disc and the Genius 900 Tuned.
Foil Premium Disc
"The SCOTT FOIL Premium Disc pushes the boundaries of aero bikes. With a mind-boggling weight of 7.3 kg for the disc version, not only does the FOIL break weight records, but it also accelerates incredibly well thanks to its stiff frame. The standard 28 mm-wide Continental Grand Prix 4000 S II tires provide confidence to steam through gravel and cobblestone and open up entirely new riding possibilities. It’s not surprising that the FOIL has already claimed stage victories in Grand Tours and podium places in classic races such as the Milano-San Remo and Paris-Roubaix. Technical integration is of the highest order and is cleverly implemented without being too complex. This means emergency repairs can be carried out quickly on long tours and in the middle of a race. This much performance and versatility comes at a price, however: with a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 groupset and Zipp 303 NSW Disc Firecrest wheels, the FOIL will set you back exactly € 11,999. Our only criticism goes to the sharp edge of the integrated cockpit, which affects the comfort of the bike."
Genius 900 Tuned
"The SCOTT Genius 900 Tuned redefines efficiency when it comes to trail bikes. The stiffness of the lightweight frame, its TwinLoc suspension technology, and its superb spec fuse to make this a very quick bike which climbs with just as much pedigree. Add in its achingly hip angular design and one-piece Syncros Hixon SL iC cockpit, and you’ve got a bike that sets new standards of style. The great package is completed – crucially – with great descending capability. Agile and smooth when needed, the SCOTT Genius 900 Tuned handles with precision thanks its progressive suspension. The Flip-Chip on the rear shock mount makes the bike a chameleon that can work with both 29" and 27.5" wheels. The ultimate rig for any rider looking for a no-holds-barred performance on both the climbs and descents, this bike can confidently pin on a number for a marathon or an enduro!"
