On a windy and muddy Saturday morning, Joseph Gray opened up his trail running season at the Xterra Soaring Eagle Trail Run.  The Soaring Eagle Trail offered technical challenges through mature forest and sanctuary wetlands; however, it posed no threat to Joe.  Setting a course record in the 5 mile run with 28:05, Joe took home the victory.  This takes Joe steps closer to defending his half marathon title in the Xterra Trail Running World Championships in Oahu, HI, November 2013.

Coming off his win the day before, Joe headed to the Top Pot Doughnuts 5k (3.2 mile) Dash.  Through an undulating course around Green Lake, Joe turned in a quick time of 14:59 (more results).  Taking the top prize and cash purse, Joe still wasn't finished for the day.  Joe joined in the Kid's Dash, pacing with the leader.  Proving he's nothing less than a class act and inspiration, Joe gave his award to the winner of the kid's race and simply asked, "you have to promise me that you won't beat me when I'm old."
