Nico Molina: Welcome to the SCOTT Running Team
With an accomplished trajectory from a young age, the Spanish rising star joins the SCOTT RC Team.
Molina joins an esteemed roster of athletes on the SCOTT Running team, further strengthening a lineup that was already reinforced last year with the addition of Romanian trail star Madalina Florea. This growing team brings together experience, talent, and ambition as they prepare to tackle on the challenges of the 2026 season. Molina’s addition underscores SCOTT’s dedication to supporting world-class athletes who push the boundaries of trail running.

Nico's background and trajectory
Hailing from Dúrcal in the foothills of Sierra Nevada, Granada, the young Spanish athlete brings a strong pedigree in skyrunning and trail discipline. Over the past few seasons, he has delivered notable performances across a wide range of mountain racing formats, from explosive vertical kilometers to demanding marathon-distance races in technical terrain. Among them, Nico won the overall men's title in the 2022 Skyrunner World Series, securing the championship after a strong season that culminated in his victory at the SkyMasters finale in Gorbeia Suzien. A significant milestone in his transition from junior successes to senior elite status in skyrunning. More recently, Zegama has been one of the main races in Nico's calendar, where he achieved an impreesive 8th place last year against an incredibly dense athlete field.
His explosive climbing ability, resilience on technical terrain, and consistent performances on the international stage make him a dynamic addition to the team.

More than just a race calendar
Beyond racing, Nico Molina enjoys pursuing personal mountain projects that push his limits. “I try to plan at least one every year,” he explains. One challenge currently on his radar is a speed ascent and descent of the Matterhorn in Zermatt. Nico adds, “Winning races is important, but projects like this mean a lot to me. Preparing for a big mountain challenge is very different from racing; it’s about connecting with the mountain,”
Two years ago, one of these projects took Nico to Morocco to attempt the FKT on Jebel Toubkal. Just hours before his planned start, a devastating earthquake struck the region. Nico and his team were unharmed but spent more than 24 hours without communication while trying to support locals.
Last year, he returned with a solidarity project after raising funds through a charity race to help affected communities. Before heading home, he completed the original challenge and set the record: “a nice way to finish the project, even if the record itself had become secondary.” Nico concluded.

"I love to be in the mountains, running, with skis, doing alpinism… The mountain is the space for me to be happy, whether racing, training or just playing around. SCOTT shares this love for our playground in different sports so this feels like a nautral partnership and one for which I am truly excited about. I look forward to meeting the rest of the team and start racing under SCOTT's colors."

SCOTT's Athlete Camp 2026 to take place at Nico's homeplace
Nico will host the upcoming SCOTT athlete camp, from April 6 to 12, in his hometown of Dúrcal, Granada (Spain). The camp will bring together 14 SCOTT Running athletes for a week of training on Nico’s home trails, alongside product testing, product workshops, content creation, and team bonding. “I am very excited to have all the team there, it’s an amazing opportunity, and I am grateful to have the team visiting my home during my first month as a SCOTT Athlete”. Nico says.
For the past two years, Nico has been running a rural guesthouse where he hosts runners and hikers eager to explore the region. The house will serve as the base for the camp before the team heads to Calamorro to compete in the SWS Calamorro Skyrace later that week.
