Matteo Iniguez

Hometown: Évian-les-Bains
Date of Birth: April 2nd, 2001

Growing up in the south of France, Matteo Iniguez found his passion for mountain biking at a young age. What began as a love for riding evolved into a career in downhill and freeride MTB, blending competitive racing with creative video projects and adventurous freeriding across iconic terrain in the Alps and beyond.
Matteo has raced at the highest levels of downhill competition, including UCI World Cup events and national championships. He’s known for his smooth yet aggressive riding style, strong bike control in technical terrain, and his presence in compelling bike films — from steep DH tracks in Loudenvielle to iconic sessions in Whistler.
Off the racecourse, Matteo focuses on exploring new lines, digging, filming with friends, and pushing progression in freeride culture. His approach to mountain biking emphasizes creativity, community, and fully living the sport — whether that’s racing, shooting edits, or discovering new terrain.
“I’m excited to join the SCOTT family because it represents passion and a real lifestyle connection to the mountains and bikes. SCOTT’s heritage of pushing limits and supporting athletes who live and breathe riding hugely resonates with how I see the sport and my own progression” says Matteo.

Athlete talk

What is your all-time favorite riding destination?
Queenstown — classic terrain with endless creative lines, and a place that truly inspires me to push my riding.

What does “No Shortcuts” mean to you?
Building things step by step. Putting in the laps, the crashes, the learning — and trusting the process. Real progression can’t be rushed.

What do you get up to when you’re not out riding?
Digging, training, filming edits, traveling for riding projects, and spending time in nature with close friends.

Outside of cycling, where do you draw inspiration from?
Action sports culture, film and storytelling, music, and anything that blends performance with creativity.

You’re stranded on a desert island. What three things would you want with you?
Friends first, so I’m sure to have a good time, a few beers, and a speaker.

If you could put up a billboard to be seen by countless people every day, what would you put on it?
Passion first.
