Taking care of business at the US Freeskiing Open

Starting with the women’s slopestyle, the SCOTT team fielded 5 girls out of the 15 in the finals. The ladies all came out swinging in the first round. Shanny Cohen, Steph Myers, Keri Herman, Ashley Battersby, and Kim Lamarre were laying it all out on the line. When the powder settled, Ashley came out on top by a quarter of a point over teammate Kim Lamarre. While Ash set the bar on the 3 jumps above, Kim showed the ladies, and half the guys, how to lay it down on the rails. The ladies finished up with Ash in first and Kim in second.

Although none of the guys on the SCOTT team ended up on the podium, that doesn't mean they didn’t go down swinging. Alexis Godbout led everyone throughout the semis, but couldn't keep the momentum rolling into the finals. Matt Walker put down some unbelievable runs all afternoon long and managed to finish fifth. He had three different flawless 9s and got down to business on the rails. Tim Russell might possibly have been one of the oldest guys in the comp, but it didn’t keep him from showing the kiddos a thing or two about slopestyle. Russell ended up in seventh place after a little mechanical problem which was fixed with the aid of one Red Bull Can. Other SCOTT athletes that really skied well at the Open included Joss Christiansen, Giray Dadali, and Brian Kish. Congrats to all athletes that competed in the snowy slopestyle event.

See you guys a little later at Big Air and Superpipe.
