Daytona Supercross Race Report
The famous Daytona Motor Speedway was host to the AMA Supercross series last weekend for round 10 of the series. The Daytona track proved to be difficult as multiple "outdoors track" obstacles were added to the typical Supercross layout, which provided lap times in the minute to minute and a half mark.
250SX East Coast Class
in the 250SX East Coast class, SCOTT goggle athlete Dean Wilson consistently been the fastest on the track. With a dominating heat race win, Wilson lined up with a great gate pick for the main event. After getting a great jump off the line, Wilson found himself battling for the lead early on. Dean rattled himself a bit when he came up short on a jump in the rhythm section and had to regroup to eventually finish in 4th. Wilson maintains 2nd in the point standings, only 5 points down from the leader.
SCOTT goggle athlete and Supercross rookie Justin Hill raced Daytona for the first time in his career. Hill handled the difficult track well by coming through the pack to finish 6th in the 250SX main event. Hill sits 7th in points heading to the next round.
SCOTT athlete Zack Freeburg made it to the main event via a 6th place finish in the first 250SX heat race and then went on to finish in a career-high 8th place in the main event.
450SX Class
SCOTT athlete Trey Canard transferred to the main event with an 8th place finish. In the 450SX main event, Trey got a mid-pack start and battled his way to 6th by the end. Canard maintains 4th in the points after 10 rounds.
SCOTT goggle athlete Andrew Short rode well, getting a 7th in the first 450SX heat race. In the main, Short battled the difficult track to finish 12th overall on the night. Andrew sits 8th in the point standings.
Next week the Supercross series heads to Indianapolis, IN for the 11th round of the season. We'll see you next week!
